{"id":144,"date":"2012-11-06T23:08:39","date_gmt":"2012-11-07T04:08:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/?p=144"},"modified":"2014-03-16T23:00:28","modified_gmt":"2014-03-17T03:00:28","slug":"from-tk-60s-to-pc-60s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/?p=144","title":{"rendered":"From TK-60s to PC-60s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Once we had cameras functioning in two studios, we turned our attention to a couple of Norelco PC-60s locked away in a storage room.\u00a0 There they sat, resting upon a couple of (leaky) TVP pneumatic pedestals.\u00a0 At that time, the shop was a small room next door to Control &#8220;B&#8221;.\u00a0\u00a0The students must have been gone for the\u00a0summer, because we took over most of\u00a0studio &#8220;A&#8221; with a vow to get them working and on-line.\u00a0As part of writing this post, \u00a0I located Greg McMurry.\u00a0He was one of the engineers who preceded me.\u00a0 He told me that he had procured these cameras in hopes of &#8220;going color&#8221; after a false-start involving a couple of RCA TK-42s.<\/p>\n<p>The cameras had been in the storage room for so long\u00a0with irises open\u00a0that an image of the storage room door was permanently captured in the pickup tubes of one of the cameras.\u00a0 This set me off on a &#8220;Plumbicon collection campaign&#8221; (this means pin-holes smaller than\u00a0.22 cal bullet holes)\u00a0Plumbicon tubes took us to WJET-TV in Erie, Pennsylvania.\u00a0 There, in a quonset hut on the outskirts of town&#8230;and directly under the transmitting tower, we were given at least one additional PC-60 camera chain, manuals, boxes of Plumbicons, and\u00a0genuine &#8220;fellow broadcaster hospitality&#8221;
