{"id":255,"date":"2013-09-29T12:11:55","date_gmt":"2013-09-29T16:11:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/?p=255"},"modified":"2013-10-02T00:09:41","modified_gmt":"2013-10-02T04:09:41","slug":"tawes-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/?p=255","title":{"rendered":"Tawes Today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I visited the Tawes building in late September of 2013.\u00a0 RTVF Alum Dave Bittner had stopped in prior to my visit and\u00a0sent me\u00a0some pictures.\u00a0 I had to see the facility with my own eyes, and I must say it is impressive.\u00a0 The Tawes building has been extensively renovated.\u00a0 For\u00a0a person\u00a0who was involved with every nook and cranny of the building, the first walk-through is surreal.\u00a0 You&#8217;re in Tawes, but you&#8217;re not.\u00a0 Hallways are re-directed, doors are missing (or added)\u00a0stairs are changed.\u00a0 There is a\u00a0central stairway to the ground floor from the lobby.\u00a0 The place is familiar and strange at the same time.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/lobby-cropped1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-288\" alt=\"lobby cropped\" src=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/lobby-cropped1-300x186.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"186\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The half-stairway down to Tech Center is wider, and a wheelchair access elevator is installed as well.\u00a0 A plate-glass window once looked into Tech Center.\u00a0 It is gone now, and the stairway landing is quite different.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/cropped-eaton.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-284\" alt=\"cropped eaton\" src=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/cropped-eaton-300x184.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"184\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Control Room &#8220;B&#8221; and Studio &#8220;B&#8221; are to the left in the above picture.\u00a0 A very nice Journalism facility is housed in this area.\u00a0 The former Control Room &#8220;B&#8221; area has been converted to an office.\u00a0 The hallway from TV to the Theatre has been narrowed\u00a0and the space gained shifted to Studio &#8220;B&#8221;.\u00a0 Edit bays are configured inside Studio &#8220;B&#8221;, and a bull-pen work area is in place along with a permanent studio set.<a href=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/journ2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-263\" alt=\"journ2\" src=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/journ2-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/journ1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-265\" alt=\"journ1\" src=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/journ1-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/journ3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-261\" alt=\"journ3\" src=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/journ3-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>\u00a0The Journalism control room is nicely outfitted with equipment of this century.\u00a0 Gone are the Conrac 14 inch tube-type monitors displayed behind the control room window!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/journ4.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-259\" alt=\"journ4\" src=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/journ4-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Tech Center is remarkable.\u00a0 Cable trays and conduit have replaced the old cable troughs, Modern equipment racks are installed.\u00a0 The rack wiring is top-notch.\u00a0 The cardboard air deflector installed in the old air conditioning ductwork is no more. (&#8220;The\u00a0Bubba White Memorial Tomb&#8221; was printed on that cardboard ductwork for some reason that escapes me). A very nice shop is installed where the 3\/4 inch editing bay once was. <a href=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/mc2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-269\" alt=\"mc2\" src=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/mc2-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/DSC_0568.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-270\" alt=\"DSC_0568\" src=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/DSC_0568-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/mc3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-267\" alt=\"mc3\" src=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/mc3-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Studio &#8220;A&#8221; is used by UMTV.\u00a0 It now features a modern lighting board with modern lighting instruments.\u00a0 The scene dock has been removed to open up some additional space.\u00a0 The door to the former shop is now in use, because the hallway door to the former shop is gone.\u00a0 At one time, the rear door of Studio &#8220;A&#8221; opened up to a ramp to the loading dock.\u00a0 Load-in and load-out was painless.\u00a0 Today, a physical plant building is butted up against the loading dock, and the handy ramp is a thing of the past.<a href=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/DSC_0572.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-276\" alt=\"DSC_0572\" src=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/DSC_0572-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/DSC_0573s.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-278\" alt=\"DSC_0573s\" src=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/DSC_0573s-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/DSC_0561.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-257\" alt=\"DSC_0561\" src=\"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/09\/DSC_0561-300x200.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Control &#8220;A&#8221;
