{"id":360,"date":"2013-10-04T23:56:42","date_gmt":"2013-10-05T03:56:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/?p=360"},"modified":"2013-10-04T23:56:42","modified_gmt":"2013-10-05T03:56:42","slug":"rtvf-began-as-speech","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/johnfleetwood.com\/?p=360","title":{"rendered":"RTVF began as SPEECH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What would become RATV began sometime prior to 1959 at Woods Hall.\u00a0 Tele-courses were coming into vogue.\u00a0 The University of Maryland was offering introductory Zoology classes either in the traditional classroom setting or via TV.\u00a0 Parts of the campus were interconnected with cable (always\u00a0referred to in those days as &#8220;coaxial cable&#8221; because the &#8220;coaxial&#8221; designation implied what would be known later as &#8220;broadband&#8221;).<\/p>\n<p>These courses were produced live out of a studio at Woods Hall.
